The graphics are getting better in donghuas, but the stories and plot are still rather cliche and lacking. I admit I watch quite a few, but they're just filler to me after I've caught up on my normal diet of anime. The only exception I look forward to watching is Doupo Cangqiong, although it's starting to feel like the same rinse/repeat of: meet/beat trash people, meet tough opponent, get stronger, beat tough opponent.

I el you however, what can they really do rinse and repeat in different ways? The only thing that comes to my mind is exploring for cultivation material in like a mysterious place with traps and all that but they would still have to put strong opposition in there somewhere to keep this a action/adventure genre. Action = fighting in some way whether its racing sports combat ect. either way there will be a challenge of two forces against each other....basically what I'm saying is there is now way around the rinse and repeat you mentioned unless they completely change the story for example start off with a mc that is a fighter beating everyone making it to the top the suddenly he decides to become a baseball player then after that f-1 racer.....although the story will change the repeat of challenging the best or the the process of making it to the top will always be there nothing you can do about it

Also, the most cliche thing about almost every cultivation donghua is how the side characters are always overly critical about the mc. Especially, before every match or fight. The only donghua I've watched that doesn't have that is Fanren.
